ABOUT THE VIRGINIA SATIR GLOBAL NETWORK
(formerly AVANTA)
The Virginia Satir Global Network (formerly AVANTA) was founded in 1977 by internationally famous family therapist, Virginia Satir, as a forum for the continual evolution of Satir theory and practice, its practitioners and the world community. Her vision was to help empower people to reach their full potential. Virginia invited those who had trained with her and shared her vision to join AVANTA (which means 'to move forward').
Since its early years, The Virginia Satir Global Network (formerly AVANTA) has been a forum for developing ideas, techniques, skills and training. Since Satir's death in 1988, The Virginia Satir Global Network has carried on her work through national and international conferences, workshops and ongoing training, as well as through the efforts of individual members. The Virginia Satir Global Network (formerly AVANTA) now has members in over 20 countries, with 12 Affiliates and Institutes on five continents.
The Virginia Satir Global Network (formerly AVANTA) stated mission is: "To further the creation of healthy and just relationships with self and others based on the teachings of Virginia Satir."
